this little bump of mine, i'm gonna let it shine...
still sporting the bump, thought i'd dress it in sequins today.
it's mad hard to peruse mags and sites splashing fab new fashion i can't wear this summer. i'm making due. 8 more weeks. then, hopefully i can get myself sorted out in time for fall. oh the plight of a fashion-addicted knocked up female. am just thinking about how utterly killer both stacey bendet and rachel zoe looked 'til the end. granted, am pretty certain those two fashion mavericks didn't indulge in cheesecake and pastries?
oh well, sparkle on!

utterly obsessed with layering textures, mixing prints, popping colors. it's so summer. oh & accumulating some sound sounds over the last couple of weeks.

stand outs:

Perfectly Crystal (Beach Fossils / Spirit Animal Remix) Asobi Seksu

Bee Nose (Put Yr Face On) Pink Skull

Blue Cassette Friendly Fires

Julius Starf*cker (press play)-->

lust is: the tribal short short.
i want them ALL. they're so kitschy yet fabulous! i'd wear them with flowy tops and sky high espadrilles or wedges.

memorial weekend in accessory photos.
was true to my word & incorporated each of my three fun finds at tj maxx to use over the long weekend. so wondering was my loveys wore over the weekend? send me photos & i'll blissfully post...
the wedges... so right for a little backyard grillin'.
the hat... shades from the scorching heat
at a local biker bar.
the scarf in use... tied around my waist as bum cover-up poolside at the ritz.

#LOVE is...
a text photo of my tampa BFF wearing the sunlovey forever felt flower necklace i made her as a thank you for putting on a fabulous party for moi.
love you, steph.
you look beautiful.

bloody hell, am i a maxx-inista?
hmm, nooo...
i'm an-able-to-purchase-fabulousness-ANYwhere-inista.
& with the long weekend in mind i focused on accessories for all the beachy, ritzy, guanabana-y plans i have...
the hat... so gloriously floppy & shady, has silver striations throughout, which delights a sparkling sister in massive ways.

the shoes, well, they too have a certain sheen to them & a cool jute wedge heel for summery height.

the scarf... vivid, fave hues mingle on this oversized square i can use in a myriad of ways. cynthia rowley, $10, a steal.

next week i'll post photos of all three
being put to holiday weekend use.
happy, happy 3-day weekend, loveys.

a tourist in africa.
ha, today's look was very "i'm blending in with the natives, right?" naive. and, yeah, that was intentional. i paired a tribal print dress & Egyptian museum-inspired three-panel necklace to leopard-print cat eye shades, a vintage cardie & MAY-JUH gold heels. dressing with a character in mind is fun.

because i'm still lusting all the icing white lace dresses in that recent WHO WHAT WEAR email, i encouraged myself to dig out one of two white lacy dresses i'm already in possession of, that, actually still fits and reinvent it just a bit with a green polka dot chiffon scarf and a couple syncing bracelets. ugh, but i still want more creamy, white lace...
can't. stop. wanting.

i recall when i first heard of them, THEN SAW THEM, no, not live, an image. one can imagine who i instantly likened them to physically. but their sound itself? well, it was very #LOVE/hate for me. but HOLY WOW, i play this new track of theirs for the 1st time yesterday and just like that, 'twas LOVE and only love. can't explain it. but it's melancholy and beautiful, uplifting and brilliant.
give it a go:
still life
i. LOVE. this.

am now
the horrors' new album, coming out, in the magical month of july 2011. ;-)

fab in a bag.
well, sort of a bag.
do this.
gather up:
a pound of detailed, deveined shrimp
4 cups of fresh arugula
1 cup of your fave uncooked couscous
1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 cloves of garlic
1 chopped tomato
1 cubed hass avocado
1 chopped small red onion
1/2 fresh lime
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup chopped jalapeño (pickled or fresh)
2 18" length pieces of aluminum foil
your fave cooking spray.
your grill.

OK, in a bowl combine 1/2 of your chopped cilantro, chopped or pressed garlic cloves, the olive oil and all your shrimp, stir and let sit.
next, spray the entire inside of your foil, lightly.
put your couscous in a bowl with 2/3 cup water, stir and let sit for a sec.
place 2 cups of arugula at the center of each piece of foil.
OK, now add the water-soaked couscous, evenly divided between two foil sheets, right on top of the arugula.
then, do the same with the shrimp mixture.
finally, fold up your foil, so that no air is getting in.
toss on your grill for a mere 12 minutes.
while your foil bags are grilling
chopped tomato
cubed avocado
remainder of cilantro
chopped red onion
in a bowl, now, squeeze out every last drop of your lime over this mixture and stir.
by now, 12 min. have likely passed, get your foil bags off the grill.
careful, HOT HOT HOT.
with caution, cut open each foil packet on a plate, it's FIERY HOT inside, seriously be careful.
lastly, scoop on your avocado mixture 'til your heart's content.
healthy. delicious. life altering.

popping patterns.
no joke, there's little i have more fun with when it comes to fashion, than mixing patterns. it's insane, how awesome it feels when you haphazardly notice how amazing two pieces will look together. such was the case here. i was hanging up my new meghan reversible cape jacket and putting away laundry, in this instance, my forever 21 smocked waist tribal print shorts and BAM! i ripped off what i was wearing and tossed these two pieces on together with a swingy lace-trim michael stars tank. HELL. YEAH. i thought. jewel mint gold necklace. gold steve madden platforms and down the stairs i went. the german doesn't see eye to eye with me on this "WHAT are you wearing?" he asked. i just breezed by him. and later, asked him to snap a photo of me as we were leaving for dinner. i guess he had gotten used to it. he snapped two. bottom photo is for detail. try it. toss patterns together and set out into the world. it feels awesome.

coveting fashion kind of hurts
i try to simply take inspiration from styles i see & dig but at times i literally go to bed lusting & craving stuff i saw in a fashion email. case in point. these icing-like white lace dresses. i wouldn't feel the slightest bit wrong about having each & every one (OK i'd pass on the bottom middle dress, it's a bit dowdy) in my closet. right along side the entire shanghai collection topshop tortured me with earlier this week. the captivating color and pattern play screams escape some place far far away & you know i'm mad about that.
but i haven't a choice but to hit "delete" and fight to eradicate these fabulous visions from my brain. then, enter my own closet and make the very best of what i find. mind you, i am a blessed girl, i find a lot. and yet, i still want...it's hard being a girl. ;-)

how do you fellow fashion slaves cope with all the coveting?

how often do you find yourself giving in?

what's your biggest splurge?

nevertheless—what i wore today:
none of it new. you got it. #ShopYourCloset
hello summer, hello exotic.

just when you thought i was done gushing and gushing and gushing on end about #UMF
came along...
and this, my loveys, is a nationwide tour.
so try to go wherever you are.
then, prepare to
it appears there will be varying line-ups
so click your city for the details.

i'm so in: bookashade, kaskade, holy ghost!+
happy friday.

addendum: my brain is one jacked little place. i hesitate to drop $100 on a dress without carefully mulling it over, but a show goes on sale & $100+ is dropped faster than you can say 'excuse to dance my a$$ off'. conversely, i will dole out $50 at the drop of a hat for a killer top, but hesitate and think in great detail about spending the same on a $50 music compilation.
i don't get myself.

Pictureplane is quite the fun dude to follow on twitter.
AND he's quite the music maker too.

LOVE. for real.

peacocks & pyramids
this peacock feather bow-tie neck dress is probably one of my fave acquisitions of '11. although, i vow to have it shortened. the length perturbs me just a bit. nevertheless, i adore its graphics and its neckline something fierce. painted my nails in green glitter last night to pay homage to this love. oh & major green eyeshadow this morning. then, i decided to shake things up for myself by tossing on mixed metal pyramid stud and spike bracelets as accessories. finishing off my look with burnished gold platforms. hell yeah. ha ha ha.

blackberry brilliance.
sometimes the most sublime things
are the simplest.
note: this is VERY rare.
more is more is my motto most days.
(wait 'til you see the bracelet concoction
i'm going to rock the hell out of soon.)
1 carton of blackberries
approx. 3 cups of vanilla frozen yogurt
1 cup vanilla soy milk.

p.s. the color is going to SLAY you.

i said the widest leg you'd see me in was a straight leg.
until i saw these.
Free People, you make me look like a fool.

a silly-looking

p.s. get on it: Urban Outfitter's LSTN #14 is here.
feeling blue.
feeling blooms.
feeling bold.

there are days, glorious days when what you wear works on a sublime level. you feel fabulous and so in tune with who you are on a style level. this day was one such day. blooming, literally from head to toe, with bold injections of blue and rich black crochet.
