somehow i get real simple. yes, the mag. i most certainly didn't subscribe. the name alone kind of irritates me. why would anyone ever choose real simple? i'm more of a totally complex girl. nevertheless, the cover of their "fashion" issue actually got me to open it & flip through and within that issue i found the above page and well, something so simple as two hues paired together captured me and voila! this look started coming together in my brain.

of course there's nothing simple about it. no way, never.

i tweet about friends' friend crush en route to starbucks for a piping hot chai and BAM! come home to a link from RCRDLBL to download a friends' track. granted it's their cover of 'my boo' (ugh), but still, life is surreal.

anyway, seems friends' friend crush is a '10 track. late to the party i am, but hey!, it's a fun party. hear it/get it here.

in other news, yesterday when baby L slept for a full two hours at home (read: this was major) i played dress up for one of those hours, crafting up looks for a florida fall. toss on a pair of killer tights and said looks will translate elsewhere. i'll post a look at a time for the next several days.

hey summer! Wow, you are hot.(a scalding 90 F here today.) i'll be going to new heights in major wedges in honor of you. 

for the girl that shuns the flat (ick, HATE flats) this season (read: ME), cork & rope wedges exude a "i'm not trying too hard" vibe & are MUCH easier to walk in than your reg. 4" stiletto when picnicking in the grass, or cruising a beachy pier.

these are report signature from boston proper. and i am high on life, literally when rocking them.
the others? HOT PINK delicious brilliance from shoe dazzle. am not a big pink fan generally(unless you're talking about THIS  big pink), but these POP. live life on the wedge, loveys.

can you handle it? you've (or rather, I'VE) got six options to choose from. i want to hear your thoughts, damn it.
the superfluous dilemma...

A. The Manhattan
So yeah, know me & know i'm NOT a fan of earthtones, browns, neutrals. Not leaning towards this one... break the mold?

B. The Jewel
Classic & timeless & all that.
Romantic & femme. A girl can never have too many such shoes, right?

C. The Corinna
She's got character. She's got a granny quality about her that i always fall for. While the trimmings and cut-outs give her a modern sensibility.

D. The Vixen
Holy hot. Mad metallic. But then, sort of romantic when it comes to the peep toe. Practical? Think "sunlovey practical" when considering this.

E. The Harley
Oh hot damn! How my heart pulls for this biker chick beauty. Strappy buckled bondage bad a$$-ness.

E. Just Say PEACE

To all of them & be a good girl who doesn't acquire any of the above. Because after all, any minute now it's going to 85 degrees here in sunny south florida & i won't be sporting any of these.

Plaid On Toile
Success! Dug deep & came up with a sweet little toile de jouy pencil skirt. Toile had its brief moment of fashion fame several years back and I stocked up as an avid lover of the idyllic print. When the trend faded, I refused to let go of the pieces I'd acquired. Today I wanted to mix a new(er) plaid shirt I'm digging hard by Guess with another pattern & had a hallelujah moment! Angels sang. My old Forever 21 toile! Perfect! But the look lacked something? I dropped to my knees and began rummaging through the belts I actually kept in light of my recent purge. More angels. Ah ha! Rocking black patent with red plaid keepers, a Boston Proper sample sale score many, many years ago. + my mile high red Shoe Dazzle platforms I worried I would never wear, how delightfully wrong I was! 

Moral of the story? 

...I've had the skirt for at least eight years, haven't worn it for like seven. Put it on today. LOVE...

...Belt, bought for a few bucks like four years ago. Wore it NEVER. And today? LOVE...

Being a fashion pack rat ain't all bad.

And I feel Christmasy. = win. win.
