i'd be an utter & total liar if i tried to pretend i sported these shoes all day, i'm requesting you practice a little suspension of disbelief where said shoes are concerned. and i think you'll giggle when i tell you about the bubble gum pink shorts i'm wearing.

really, i just wanted to talk about the fact that lately, i want to wear the same top every single day. no, i haven't succumb to stay-at-home-mom-i-don't-care-anymore frumpiness. nope, aforementioned top is just that bad ass. oversized and cozy, yes. but in a bold python print with structured stand collar and a chic swingy shape + pockets = #love.

but then, unexpected accessories started playing into my silly little photo shoot. so... i went with it.

the top = zara.

the shorts = kids size champion "sport" shorts from target. the corset-back heels = betsey johnson. the shades = marc jacobs. the mask = pulcinella, a venetian carnevale character, the baby = my very best accessory, the famous baby L. happy monday, loveys!

oh, infamous tights.

tights, tights, i love you so. every where i go, when i see you, i am drawn to you. however, once i purchase you, you tend to be a royal pain in my ass. if i don't jack you up just removing your packaging & such, i tend to scar you whilst pulling you on. if i make it through an entire day without destroying you it's a bloody miracle. why can't you be stronger? more resilient? the pair i just wore on NYE were slaughtered by my sequin trench that night. RIP american apparel opaque shimmer tights.
this very a.m. i threw a mini-fit getting these babies on. note: glitter nail polish and lacy tights are sworn enemies. my sparkling toes were doing their best to wreck you. i almost threw in the towel. because, romantic and lovely, whispery periwinkle tights, i covet you a bit too much. and had you gotten injured in the process of putting you on, i might have gone into a fit a rage. thankfully, you came out unscathed. but it's still early. i kind of can't stand how much i adore the way the florescent pink elastic band at the waist (betsey johnson, you are love) of these particular brats contrasts with the soft, pale blue hue. you really are fabulous. Nevertheless, you irk me.

i sold my left arm in service fees.
but oh well,
am seeing cut copy, chemical bros,
erasure, royksopp, empire of the sun,
holy ghost, !!!, simian mobile disco, CSS, chromeo,
etc., etc. in miami in march! #YAY.

BLAH.

Love love love this dark blue & green plaid crest blazer from boston proper. But rarely wear it because my magical "rock this look" treasure trove lacks killer gold items that rock. It's likely in my head but i put the jacket on and at times feel like a cruise director from the love boat. NOT EFFIN' COOL. +the fact that i wore it with a black V-neck sweater with no umph. shame on me. i just felt dull and cruise shippy.

so out of pure desperation, i dashed out during lunch in search of a quick fix. I found...

a cascading frills tank of chiffon and raw-edged self fabric ruffles for just $12.99 (i can never ever ever have too much ruffles, it's fair to say they're a close runner up to sequins in my chaotic closet) AND a bubble gum pink stretch belt decked out in GOLD pyramid studs by Betsey Johnson for another $12.99 (both at TJMaxx). Ripped off sweater in car, QUICKLY so as not to cause heart failure for the surrounding elderly.

Then jetted back to work, feeling much much better. Nothing like some bold black ruffles, a dash of pyramid studs & a pop of pink to sort out the cruise director crisis.  

Fashion needs its little jaunts into the eclectic and unconventional to work for me.

Just thought I would pass along a lovely bit of reflective sound I recently received. Talk about #musickismet! I hear them one fine day on XMU, fast forward a bit & they've landed in my email inbox. And I'm like oh yeah.... that band.  Meet The Middle East. An Australian band rumored to play this years SXSW in Austin.   I must say I'm smitten with the artistic dreaminess of The Middle East's video for Blood. And the song itself takes me some place similar to the cerebral locale Band of Horses did & does... I'm thinking that The Middle East is so right for a rainy day, for laying low, for THINKING, for a hangover...

BLOODY COLD outside

and wow do south floridians like to BITCH about it. i find it refreshing. this chill makes my eyes open wider. and it allows me to bust out fun items of clothing like these metallic heart ruffly knee-high socks by Betsey Johnson. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. 
two killer holidays behind me, full of family, friends, brilliant times & glitter, GONE. up next? TELL ME. abhor not having big things in the pipeline. don't do well with lulls. brain is whirling, thoughts are stirring.
what. is. next. 
not sure. need something. fill me in if you've got something mad & exciting going on. seriously. in the mean time, a few of my fave things... received as pressies. for example, these rulin' high-shine pewter leggings from @kris_1 (from forever 21 of course, sparkling sisters are super smart shoppers) will look NUTS with boots, imagine how they'll transform a cozy sweater tunic...

i get the feeling a lot of people see leggings like these and think "i've got no where to wear those" or "i WILL not/CAN not wear them". c'mon. watch me.  i'll show you. give your closet and your look a little edgy gleam.

what else am i adoring? oh it's the little things, like this new silver glittery headband from none other than Claire's boutique from my mom, she got them for her 5th grade art room helpers & knew i'd dig one too. so right mom, so right. :-) tossed it on to go to the gym tonight and no joke, it cured a bit of the dread i'd accumulated re: returning to that smelly hell hole. you need to see it in person. it freakin' SPARKLES.
