just when you thought i was done gushing and gushing and gushing on end about #UMF
IDENTITY FEST
came along...
and this, my loveys, is a nationwide tour.
so try to go wherever you are.
then, prepare to
DANCE
it appears there will be varying line-ups
so click your city for the details.

i'm so in: bookashade, kaskade, holy ghost!+
YAY YAY YAY!!!
happy friday.
love,
sunlovey

addendum: my brain is one jacked little place. i hesitate to drop $100 on a dress without carefully mulling it over, but a show goes on sale & $100+ is dropped faster than you can say 'excuse to dance my a$$ off'. conversely, i will dole out $50 at the drop of a hat for a killer top, but hesitate and think in great detail about spending the same on a $50 music compilation.
i don't get myself.

i will come back over & over it seems, to every single bloody holy ghost! track or remix that exists in my sunlovey forever sound library. so, it goes without saying (ha and yet, i'm still saying it) the day their new self-titled album came out (yesterday) i bought it, seconds after i had my tea and could see straight. and upon 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th listen i find myself addicted to the way in which it slides effortlessly between 80s new wave and 70s disco vibes. it's a true dance album. that = #YAY.
tracks that stand out (although i skip NONE as i play the bloody album time & again):
from the very 1st second you hit play on Do It Again, it's beat-driven love. admit it, you would have roller skated to this one, hey you still might. i'm mad for it. Do It Again exploded on my ipod from the get-go. get Do It Again here. Wait & See is sexy, vulnerable, electronic #love—shimmy worth bleeps give way to a pulsing drum beat, understated keyboards and strong synths that play on in your head long after the song finishes. oh & did i mention the bass line? LOVE.
Say My Name -NOT- to be confused with meh Destiny's Child track with the same title. This was the 1st track I heard off of this release and I found it instantly disco-esque & sparkling. With harmonious vocals reminiscent of the bee gees, sans that "are these chicks or dudes singing?" i had to ask way back when as a music loving child.
Hold On! OMG, having just experienced this song live at Ultra Music Festival, and dancing there before the stage like a girl in her room all alone, i have no choice but to gush about its sick synths, hypnotic drum machine beat & droning 80s keyboards. YES YES YES. it's love.
Static On The Wire is a HOT DAMN track of rich, thick, electronic deliciousness. I want to reeeeeewind time & dance to it at Studio 54 or Limelight.
if you purchase Holy Ghost!'s album from itunes. you'll get a couple remixes too, one of which is Eli Escobar's. he's been a little music fetish of mine since I 1st heard his remix of Clubfeet's Count Your Lovers. j'adore what he does to the tracks he works his magic on—so distinctive.
but loveys, it was Holy Ghost!'s I Will Come Back that intially ignited this fanatical little Holy Ghost! obsession of mine. so intensely, it made me stalk & eventually elicit an annoyed response from their twitter account early last year after i begged & bitched on end about wanting them to play South Florida. Ha ha. Well. Sometimes good things do come to those who wait, as evidenced by their very recent appearance at UMF. anyway, here's I Will Come Back, if you haven't heard it, let it slay you. Then download it below.

dig it? get it from rcrdlbl.com here.

the shun shine state
bear with me if you're reading this & you don't live in FL or if you are in FL but couldn't give a damn about my music obsession. this particular post might bore you. but this week i have been trying to dig a bit deeper into the travesty that is the south florida (and well, florida on the whole) music scene. besides the obvious, we're an inconvenient state to play in geographically, what else contributes to "indie" bands not deeming us worthy?
i've gotten a couple answers: that bands ask to be flown down, which is cost prohibitive for promoters, and that unless artists get offer$ from promoters/venues in florida, to play florida, their not likely to try and play here because it's way out of their way.
not really sure what to do with this information... move? i've done my share of borderline stalking/begging bands on twitter (have nothing to lose) it was actually @holyghostNYC that told me regarding them playing here: @sunlovey its not up to us! Petition your local promoters!
hey holy ghost! am doing my best. got a bit more promising response from @smallblk: @sunlovey Need to hit Miami soon! maybe Winter run down there? thanks, small black. i can only hope. we DO have a small handful of indie sounds heading our way. if you live here and love this music enough to be reading me rant on & on about it, GO to these shows, OK? you can start this weekend, saturday, at grand central in miami—the pains of being pure at heart and surfer blood. or on sunday, at the fillmore in miami beach—passion pit & tokyo police club. see you there?
love,
sunlovey
because #fashion is NOT i repeat, is NOT an after thought, am wearing:

the dress...target #love (poppin' blooms!)
necklace & bracelet...forever 21
sequin sash belt...found in a deep dark crevice of closet

stay tuned for the killer finds on my way, acquired in the name of #pitchforkmusicfestival.

#SORIGHT.
seems sentiments are shared amongst
some of my fave
sound-loving twitter friends.
we're feeling holy ghost!
got this vid from itunes last week
and watched it back
to back, over & over, wishing
with my entire soul that i was in
that city, hitting that nightclub.
it's in-effin'-fectious

get the killer 'i will come back'
right here, right now.
then, if you're in FL, throw
a freaking fit about the
fact that green label sound's
chromeo tour w/ holy ghost!
isn't coming here!?!?! if it IS
coming to a city near you,
you better go.i am SO SICK
of getting effed down here.
despite that.
love,
sunlovey
p.s. the vid is very
very very similar to
an old new order vid.
escapes me
which right now,
do your own homework. ;-)
