Breakin' Rules.
Hey loveys.
Confession to make.
I wore a swimsuit cover up today as a dress.
Sorry but it's too cute to solely be worn atop swimwear.
Eff that.
It's by Becca. Topped it with a shimmery wrap cardie, oh how i wish you could see it sparkle, sorry for the crap photo in this case (& yeah, in some others as well. promise to work on that).
Look for fashion outside of the box, that is, in swimwear, lingerie, even PJs. am "guilty" of wearing all three, out & about.
whatever. you like it, wear it. Then, layer on the bracelets. big, bold, color. loads of it. and if you're good, treat yourself to a little HELLO KITTY TOTE. found this one today whilst picking up conditioner at my happy place. #YAY. sure hope tuesday was good to you.
love,
sunlovey

the hundred in the hands etc. + yeah.
a few months back when i was so lucky to catch @bearinheaven play a show at will's pub in orlando i spoke at length to their drummer about their potential future tour mates. he said someone had thrown out the band "the hundred in the hands" to them and i was like "the hundred and huh?" probably like four times. felt instantly fascinated by their name alone. finally just texted 'a hundred in the hands' to myself so as not to ask him a fifth time. but only ONE song was circulating the web at that time, dressed in dresden.
got my junkie little hands and ears on it the second i was back from O-town and really felt it—catchy, energetic, her enviable little voice. then, just yesterday i caught another song of theirs on XMU. and low and behold, today, they appear on @urbanoutfitters #musicmonday offering. that's cool (song: ghosts. verdict: yes.) check them out. +the other four tracks and thank GOD & FATE you lasted thru monday. zzz.

its getting hot in here.
it's basically summer, loveys. and it looks like crochet is what a fashionable girl wants. wore the dress above to work yesterday and got this email from WHO WHAT WEAR. felt clairvoyant. ;-) hahaha.
in other news, my realm is abuzz in animal. i don't know what it is? catering to cougars? + the aftershocks of alison mosshart shimmying and convulsing in her leopard cardie. but something provoked me to pair this animal zip jacket to ruffly lace and peep toes. felt a little 80s, a lot eclectic.
believe it or not i've got quite a bit of pearls in my accessory arsenal. mostly faux, some freshwater, a bit of killer cultured. was thrilled to see a story in may's issue of vogue encouraging followers of fashion to layer them on. it always looks brilliant to me. not a single elegant strand, no, but all of them at once, fake, real, big, little, long short—an explosion of them. on this particular day i dabbled in that, SHOULD HAVE layered on more. next time.
love,
sunlovey

It's Been a Maddening Few Days...
so sorry for the lack of posts, let's play catch up.
listening to:
Rad Omen's
(DJ Troublemaker) Rad Anthem, thanks to a boy i know yanking the cord on my ipod saturday night & plugging in his own. gotta come clean and say, a little bitchy part of me hates admitting when someone's right, but this song does RULE, hard. it's electro-deliciousness that builds and kicks. it's heavy, it's power. i dig. download it FREE here. and know, there are remixes, am desperately seeking out the one he had. will post when i find. in the mean time check out the vid:
RAD OMEN - "Rad Anthem" from Nicholaus Goossen on Vimeo.

sunlovey casual fridays
it's may & already hot as hades here in south florida. thus, jean shorts instead of jeans. petite rolls, with heels, a bright floral mesh top & cut crystals = sunlovey casual friday. try it. I cut these jeans into shorts from a pair of 3000" inseam kitsons. they're happier this way. ;-)
Hope your weekend rocks.
love,
sunlovey

HOT HOT HOTyet cool.
the pains of being pure at heart's gorgeous, sparkling, emotional 'higher than the stars' remixed by chill, equally glimmering, intelligently sexy artists like saint etienne = beautiful, pulsating, vulnerable, reflective sound.
musically the original gives me the cure highs, which is magic, in its own little way
this is saint etienne for those of you that didn't know.
Download the remix here: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Higher than the Stars - Saint Etienne Visits Lord Spank Remix
and let me be the 1st to wish you a happy freaking friday, my how we've earned it this week. don't forget to love your mother this sunday.
oh oh oh! this is my zac posen for target skirt, in a thick, rich tapestry fabric that literally shimmers gold. LOVE.
& love you,
sunlovey
p.s. the pains of being pure at heart

lonely is the new dance party.
according to the sight below's myspace page & i get it. days like today, i feel it. not in the mind frame to spew biographical stuff about this guy (Rafael Anton Irisarri)for you, what i will say is, his sound is so incredibly dream like, so sedating, so haunting, so beautiful, i drown in it, willingly. when i first heard his cover of joy division's new dawn fades a while back i died a little. who knew it could be more haunting, more atmospheric? it is. all the while having a lullaby quality that sorts out my soul. i've no concept of time, but i acquired the sight below's needle exchange, a mixtape of sorts some time ago & have found that it is so right. download it if you dig things dark. champagne has totally gone to my head so forgive if this is fragmented. my utmost point is, i just felt like talking about the sight below right now, because i revisited & felt his sound in big ways today. his album, It All Falls Apart came out like a month ago. Dig what you hear, BUY IT. The moral of my story tonight is, well... When you're not dancing, you should be reflecting. Do such to this.
And yeah, I hated my attire today. kind of hated everything. CHAMPAGNE TO THE RESCUE! & better luck tomorrow.
love,
sunlovey

DOWNLOAD THIS. for tiga & VHS or beta, alone. then, prepare to shake your a$$.
OK, loveys, post 1st listen. Art & Anthony Moore: I need more tea. Zzzz. The Tiga track's not quite doing it for me, not bad, just not, MAJOR. However, will look further and further into Indian Jewelry. Oceans got instantly replayed with volume turned up, it's got a messy, fuzzy
shoe gazey thing going for it. mmm, i dig. Already had and love the VHS or BETA track, what fun! Au Revoir Simone's track's cool enough? And so true.... ONLY YOU CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY to a good, incessant thud. So with that, happy monday!

Bone House
the dead weather.
still crushing on.
perhaps just on a theory.
I build a house
For your bones
I build a house
I build a home
I wrote a song
Go on and listen
That's all you'll hear
When I go missing
I always get the things I want
I make a nest
For your hair
I lay you down
I lay you there
I build a ship
I sink or sail
Every tooth
And every nail
I always get the things I want
I put your heart
In a vault
That's how I get
The things I want
I lay a road
For your mind
So your mind can
Go go go go
I always get the things I want
I build a house
I build a home
I build a house
For your bones
I build a house
For your bones
I build a house
I build a home
yeah, kids, i always get what i want: animal jacket, boston proper
love,
sunlovey
and this special one is for you, the one who reads a bit further AND JUST KNOWS.

it's pretty damned girly
to say i go utterly mad for a beautiful voice or that i'm moved by a romantic refrain like "no one is ever gonna love you more than i do." but this voice i speak of, it's angelic. and emotional. clear and innocent. unaffected. and that same song boasts lyrics like "It's looking like a limb torn off, or altogether just taken apart. we're reeling through an endless fall, we are the ever-living ghost of what once was"and damn it, love gets like that too. there are songs that begin so gently and boarder line lull-me-to-sleep like but then they KICK IN and your entire soul is shaken to life in a way it doesn't get to get shaken too too often. i speak of BAND OF HORSES. and i saw them for the second time last night at the fillmore in miami beach. (first show was at a skate park in tampa two years ago)this is my second show in one week that consists of a band i dig, but haven't been giving proper love to lately. but in each case, i've gotten to said show, let myself open up to the sound and walked away buzzing. press play and feel it for yourself, kids. this song does it for me. don't give up. let it play out. then reap the raw emotional reward. THE FUNERAL:
granted live, it blows up bigger. it stuns, really. ask @kris_1. we were both shaking our heads. feel how a love song really should feel, real. NO ONE'S GONNA LOVE YOU:
my first run in with band of horses was IS THERE A GHOST. i heard it and got surreal chills. i got blind sided by it's eerie, understated lyrics, by the way it grew into something so melodic, so right.
look, i don't do country (don't do hippies or beards so much either, aside from BEAR IN HEAVEN). and at times, band of horses dabbles in some serious twang. but the boys are proud carolina people and i respect that. and i don't get to dive so deep, so often into core-tapping, emotion-rocking rawness, like i do with their sound. so as i said in a tweet last night during their set:
you leave sounds behind for a bit, but when you return to them the embrace is sick, massive, warm.about 24 hours ago via txt i'm glad i ventured back this week. it's right to return to music that you did feel in prior times, to let it stir up your soul a bit. i still spent all day today in the "recently added" section of my itunes, crushing on spanish deliciousness, DELOREAN, LOVELIFE, etc. happy friday world!love, sunlovey(in bad ass zac posen for target)

megagirlcrush
it's been a whirlwind string of days here. mad sorry for my absence. monday night i trekked up to orlando for
the dead weather.
let it be known, i forced this show upon myself. truly haven't been in the frame of mind for their sound but i respect jack white (predominently on drums in this band) madly and adore the living daylights out of the kills' alison mosshart. so you know, i had to go, feeling them lately or not. verdict: bloody well worth it. i needed that. what a rocking romp. that room was throbbing. their sound was LOUD and HARD and PENETRATING. the chemistry between jack & alison alone is scandalous. but every working piece of the band comes together to create electrically charged sparks you really can't fathom unless you're amidst it. what i'm saying is, get to their show.
gushing tweets from that night:
but back to alison. never ever ever ever in my life have i been so blown away by a female. her hoarse, yet commanding voice, her spidery long legs, her manic black hair, her eradic moves. did i mention her cheek bones? the way she rules a guitar? i'm admitting a freaking girl crush here. standing by it. must wrap this rant up. so yeah, the dead weather is a strong force. they turned a girl on a massive electronic wave into a devout believer in sounds that rock again. i know. it's crazy. but it's so right.
remaining shows for now:
playing near you? don't you dare miss.
love,
sunlovey
p.s. i NEED a leopard cardie NOW.
