SHOP THE CLOSET:
there's nothing new under the sun, so they say.
i find that B.S. personally. but, alas, this look isn't new, just loved & happily still working in m
y current "state". ;-)

H&M + forever 21 necklaces, layered.
no joke,
delia's shades.
went in there because the store the german was in
smelled too stron
gly of plastic.
saw these baby blue polka dotted beauties
and swooned
...
and... last, but probably should have been 1st. $50 to "blow" on sound. want to "invest" it wisely. splurge on something i'd generally wince at spending fifty bucks on. (which is wrong wrong wrong, i don't flinch when it comes to fashion!?) leaning towards indulging in something i probably should have 7 years ago, depeche mode's 81-04 remixes release, featuring reinvented tracks by the likes of underworld, kruder & dorfmeister, rex the dog & goldfrapp, etc. etc. a grave miss on my part? if only someone would weigh in...
a brand spankin' new depeche mode remix album will be released next month, so i kinda feel like i should have this one in preparation...
love,
sunlovey

Am feeling like the Anoraak album is my new Cut Copy-esque obsession. sounds that can play over and over and over and over endlessly, that i'll never tire of, that i'll force myself to break away from eventually just because addiction is bad. dreamy, grooving layers, danceable beats, blissful background tracks for wherever life's taking you.

The Beach House tracks are sublime, serene & meaningful. am totally taken by both. taken hard.

Pleasantly surprised by this week's free itunes download, that would be Symphonies by Dan Black. thank you, itunes. Sounds separated by ---- and ----- were this weeks fab new offerings from Urban Outfitter's music mondays. get on that, boys and girls.

You can find MUCH of the music above on http://www.rcrdlbl.com/ FREE.

OH OH OH!
Thieves Spray!!!
I was sitting at my desk yesterday, writing away (the Summer 1 book already, can you imagine?), when I noticed that every few moments I was totally taken by a heady scent of citrus and spices swirling around my workspace. Finally I said aloud "WHAT IS THAT SPICY ORANGE SMELL!?"  It took a bit, but we finally figured it out, it was @the_real_debbie's THIEVES SPRAY.
I was like "thieves huh????" It smells fab but wait 'til I explain its quite cool history... The thieves essential oil blend was crafted based upon a historical tale of thieves in France who protected themselves from the black plague with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing those already deceased as a result of the deadly disease. Once captured, said thieves were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their secret recipe. Today, supposedly, these same herbs & essential oils have been found to be an effective barrier against topical and airborne microorganisms. Young Living’s Thieves oil blend includes an intoxicating mix of clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus.  And they say it's been specially blended to offer the same kind of defense as it did in the fifteenth century. I do wonder about its ability to ward off plagues... perhaps swine flu? the_real_debbie's always got cool sh!@ to share...

WOW. this is turning out to be a blog-ful day! The Senses are getting pleasantly surprised and that leads to me rambling on here. Your gain, right? ;-)

This mini blog is about itunes' FREE downloads this week.
The FREE single: Bulletproof by La Roux - Chick singer. Decent electro tune. Keeping it for now.
The FREE video: Sing Sang Sung by AIR - Quirky cool. Joyful little graphics. Not bad.
The FREE discovery download: Coffin Factory by The Mumlers - Again, no instant revulsion. Didn't feel an immediate need to delete. Can linger in my itunes for now.

So that's pretty amazing. All three FREE downloads are currently keepers. Will revisit each after I revel in my new paid purchase:
Album title: A Brief History of Love Artist: The Big Pink
So far? Shoegazey goodness, pleasant distortion. Stay tuned.

love,
sunlovey

Now, more from Egypt...

Alexandria looks quite beautiful in our photographs... sadly there's not much to it in terms of ancient sites.
they've been demolished or shipped off to the U.S. (like the Obelisk in Central Park, NYC, pictured, shipped from Alexandria in 1881) & England... we did visit an extremely old catacomb and a fort on the water. we had such a questionable lunch at a place called Fish Bono—dear LORD it's amazing our stomachs are OK. we laughed so much though. had "virgin mojitos" actually called garden view cocktails & virgin beer. it was so hot. the drive back was unique, our driver smelled incredibly. OMG we were dying. Maggie smoked sheesha with a random guy at a gas station.
Once back we sipped beers on the balcony of our hotel and watched another insane sunset. they are phenomenal on their own and then the call to prayer kicks in and it's just surreal!

we took the advice of some things i'd read online and had such a lovely dinner at Felfela. Quite good, great service, more laughs. the various dips and salads are incredible, the fresh pita & their falafel (also called tamiya, pictured) was TOP NOTCH, crusted in sesame seeds. We had two orders. Good beer. Great atmosphere, nice decor-
then we went to another place for tim and maggie to smoke sheesha. i just stared at the people, Egyptians, their eyes, eye color, eyelashes, gorgeous.

I SLEPT. didn't even hear the morning call to prayer. maggie woke us at 8:30, we had breakfast (hmm, not the best, the tea is ok but it's loose in the bottom of the glass, so you end up eating it). After breakfast we set out for the Egyptian museum, it is so striking from the outside, they take great pride in it. 60 egyptian pounds to get in. NO AC, dear GOD. except in certain rooms that house things that can't survive 1000 degrees. An extra 100 pounds to see the mummies & now i know i'm going to dream about them...

the rest of the day was spent wandering through and bargaining in the bazaar, Khan al Khalili. Was a blast with maggie, laughing! we spent a lot of time in a small tunic shop where maggie bought outfits for many children she knows. but we ended up seeing tunics that we liked ourselves and spent much time talking and laughing with the father and son shop owners about maggie's "pyramids". was hilarious. people would actually say to us through out the souks "how can i take your money today?" quite honest.
